BMW E-Series Short Shifter – No Drilling. No Trimming.
The BMW E-Series Short Shifter by RTD Motorsports is engineered to fit E30, E36 (including E36 M3), E46 (including E46 M3), E8X (135i), E9X (335i / M3), E60 M5 and BMW Z4 (E-Series) chassis. Designed for precision and durability, this billet aluminum short shifter delivers a firm, mechanical feel with effortless self-centering and rapid, confident shifts — without cutting the center console or drilling the transmission tunnel.
First of its kind in the world.
No trimming to the interior. No tunnel drilling required.
Why It’s Different
Self-centering feel: An integrated solid torsion spring automatically re-centers the lever and provides crisp mechanical feedback between gears.
Zero interior cutting: No console trimming and no tunnel drilling required for installation.
Track-grade materials: All aluminum components are precision-machined from billet Alumec 89 (harder than 7075) and finished to tight tolerances for long-term durability.
Built to last: Premium bronze bushings (not Teflon) ensure superior wear resistance and consistent shifting precision.
Rigid, compact base: Stainless Steel 304 welded base, engineered for structural strength within a compact footprint.

Install was easy, shifts great.
Best shifter ever. My favorite mod for my e92
Fantastic shifter, easy installation. Went exactly as expected. The only thing I needed to do was shave some trim away from my car. E63 chassis requires some interior trim to be shaved down for the nut that holds the spring to fit. Feels incredible to operate, best mod I’ve done so far. I have E63 M6 and wanted to see if E9X M3 DSSR works, it does not. This is totally fine as I knew there was a chance it wouldn’t work. It’s far too short compared to E6X M.
